Ashneer Grover, Managing Director and Co-Founder of BharatPe has been selected as one of the investors of Shark Tank India. BharatPe is an offline merchant acquirer that provides a QR code for UPI payments, a POS system for card acceptance and small business financing. The firm was established in 2018 and is based in New Delhi, India.
early life
Ashneer Grover was born and brought up on 14 June 1982 in Delhi. His bachelor’s degree is from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, and his master’s degree is from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.
During his undergraduate years, Grover was also selected to participate in an exchange program with INSA Lyon, and he spent 2002–2003 at the University of Insa-Lyon, France. As a result of his outstanding academic achievements, he was awarded a scholarship of €6000 from the French Embassy.
career
Before joining Bharat Pay, he worked for Kotak Investment Bank, Grofers, PC Jeweler and American Express. Bharat Pay payment app was developed by Ashneer Grover in 2018. Ashneer joined American Express in May 2013 as Director of Corporate Development, managing the company’s Series B investments in MobiKwik, payments and fintech.
Ashneer left American Express after nearly two years and joined Grofers, now BlinkIt, as chief financial officer. Since joining Grofers in March 2015, Albinder Dhindsa has been working closely with them to help grow the brand, which has become India’s largest online grocery retailer.
Then, as Head of New Business, Ashneer joined PC Jewellers, the second largest jewelery retailer in India. They digitized corporate and integrated e-commerce processes for better user experience. Bharat Pay was created in October 2018 by Ashneer Grover and Shashwat Nakrani. He is also the Managing Director of the company. His firm, BharatPe, is currently India’s top digital payments provider, with over 500 employees.
Bharat Pay simplifies the payment process for offline merchants by accepting any QR code and charging no transaction fee for taking payments. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2021, and his firm BharatPe was named Emerging Company of the Year. He was included in Fortune India’s 40 Under 40 list of Top Young Business Talent of India in 2021.

Ashneer Grover is married to businesswoman Madhuri Jain Grover. She is a designer who currently works with BharatPe as Head of Control. They have two children, a son Avi Grover and a girl Mannat Grover.
