Dilrba Dilmurat, also known as Dilbar, is a Chinese actress, singer and model who has attracted global public attention with her outstanding acting abilities. Born on 3 June 1994, Dilraba Dilmurat is best known for playing the lead role in the popular Xianxia film series, Swords of Legend. Dilraba Dilmurat became one of the most popular Chinese actresses with roles in other films such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Once Upon a Time in China, The Mermaid and Big Fish.
Dilraba Dilmurat had made a name for himself in the Chinese film industry. She became popular as Yu Chen, a young Chinese actress who played the lead role in the TV drama. Yu Chen’s role got Dilraba Dilmurat the attention of Hollywood and made him an overnight sensation. Dilraba Dilmurat received an Oscar nomination for her work in the film Swords of Legend. Dilraba Dilmurat attended Beijing University of Foreign Languages and studied Japanese before pursuing a career in acting. She first appeared in the Japanese film The Last Samurai, which was set in Japan during the Edo period. After that film, Dilraba Dilmurat appeared in the Hong Kong films The Mummy, The Samurai and The Forbidden Planet. Dilraba Dilmurat also appeared in the Korean film Yeong-joo as well as the television drama Chung-hee: No Holds Bard, in which she played the role of Chun Do.
Dilraba Dilmurat moved to Hollywood, where she appeared in films such as Kung Fu, Romance of Sticks, Romance of the Three Pillows, The Damned City, Pretty Woman and Eternal Love. She then appeared in several Chinese-language films, including You’re Entertained, Beowulf and Shanghai Noir. Dilraba Dilmurat also played a role in the popular Chinese film Romance of the Three Pillows but failed to impress the audience with that film. Dilraba Dilmurat then appeared with Chow Qi in the independent film The Age of China and received positive reviews for that effort.
Dilraba Dilmurat later went to Los Angeles, California to star in her first Chinese-language film Hundred Lives of a Fishery Worker, co-starring with kung fu legend Jackie Chan. The film was released in theaters on June 3, 1992, and earned millions of dollars in ticket sales and had a running time of two hours and twenty-five minutes. After the film ended, Dilraba Dilmurat appeared in an advertisement for an ice cream restaurant in which she is portrayed. Other engagements she has appeared in include the music video for the song “Old McDonald” by the band Smirky Bells, as well as in advertising for Dell Computer. Dilraba Dilmurat later played a role in the independent film The Butterfly Effect, as well as a supporting role in the action series Kung Fu Panda.
Dilraba Dilmurat married Chinese actress Yu Yang in 1992. They have two children, a son named Valentino and a daughter named Yaya. Dilraba Dilmurat lives with her husband in Los Angeles, California. The couple has a daughter called Yaya.
