In 2011, Martin opened “The Leeds Kitchen”, a restaurant inside the Elia Casino in Leeds. In March 2013, both the restaurant and the casino closed. He opened a restaurant in 2012 at The Talbot Hotel in Malton, North Yorkshire. At the end of 2012, the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star. Jay Rainer, a food critic for The Observer, wrote about it in June 2013 and said that his meal there was “close to three elegantly prepared, flawless dishes.” In February of 2015, Martin left The Talbot.
