Why did Lisa Goodwin Allen become a chef? He got his start in the food industry by working at the Holbeck Gheel restaurant in Windermere, Cumbria. He worked there part-time, completing a three-year national vocational qualification in catering. When she completed her college course, she was offered a full-time position at Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

She decided to leave the restaurant a year later because she missed her family in the north of England, and in 2001, when she was 20, she worked as a demi chef de party under Nigel Howarth in Northcote.
