Mark Kermode is an English film critic, musician, radio host, television host and podcaster. He is the chief film critic of The Observer, writes for Sight & Sound magazine, hosts a weekly Scala Radio film music show and BBC Four documentary series Mark Kermode’s Secrets of Cinema, and the film-review podcast Kermode and Mayo’s Takes. Kermode’s film career began as a print journalist, writing for Manchester City Life, then Time Out and the NME in London. Kermode and Mayo’s film review, broadcast on BBC Radio 5 Live, reviewed and debated new film releases. Simon Mayo announced at the start of the Kermode and Mayo Film Review on 11 March 2022 that the final Kermode and Mayo film review would air on 1 April 2022. Kermode & Mayo have announced the launch of their new non-BBC podcast “Kermod & Mayo.
