Schontel Brown is the founder of a marketing support company called Diversified Digital Solutions. She was elected to Warrensville Heights City Council in 2011, where she served for three years.

Later in 2014, she was selected to represent the 9th ward on Cuyahoga County Council, while another contestant and councilwoman, C. Allen Connelly was defeated. It typically represents districts including parts of East Cuyahoga County – Shaker Heights, Orange and East Cleveland, Warrensville Heights and Bedford.

In 2017, she was elected chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, and upon taking office, she became the first African American personality to serve as the chairman of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party.
